When the Message of the Gospel is proclaimed, modelled and demonstrated by us as believers it results in changed lives. These changed lives, mean disciples, new creations and new relationships between people who have been and are being transformed by the inner working power of the Holy Spirit. From living lives that are self-governed and self-contained, we are brought into a relationship, not just with Christ, but also with His people – the Church.
The Church is God’s idea, not man's. It is what He has instituted; it is in fact His household. The church is where people are being built together as living stones to become a dwelling place in which God lives by His Spirit. It is the pillar and foundation of the Truth. The church is where every believer's life should find its greater purpose and meaning. This is how God has ordained it to be! He has always sought out a people and not just an individual. When we come to Christ we are joined to the people of God, His household. More specifically, this is expressed in a local body of believers, a people who have Christ as their King and the Spirit as their empowerer; a people who have been given gifts by the Spirit so as to enable each part of His Household to reach fresh levels of understanding as to how great the love of God is in Jesus towards them. It is through the love of believers toward each other that Jesus says we will make the world sit up and know that we are His disciples. It is through submission to leaders and those in authority over us in the church that we understand God’s authority and purpose in order. It is through seeing the array of gifts displayed through each others lives as we are joined together that we are overwhelmed by His diversity and splendour. It is in the church that we are led, fed and loved.
As the lead elder/pastor of Oxygen Life Church along with the other elders and the believers in our church we have a desire to see many churches planted and established wherever God may lead us to do so. This is God’s desire for our lives as Christians, to be joined together with others, one in heart, mind and purpose, on a mission for His greater Glory.
Church planting is not a new idea, rather an old one given to us by God. It is our desire to partner with Him in planting New Testament Churches wherever He would have us do so and to see many people swept into the new life that is theirs as God’s people.
“…to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:21
My parents have struggled financially for years (almost 10 years now). Through these tough situations is how I actually came to rely on God and give my life over to Him (2004-ish). Through the years, my parents have asked me for money and sometimes I’ve loaned them money and sometimes I haven’t. Early on through wisdom from elders, I learnt that I should never “loan” money, I should rather “give” money with no expectation of receiving it back so that there is freedom in giving and no guilt put onto a relationship or a person. This was difficult for me as I thought in order to honour and respect my parents (a commandment) I needed to help them when they needed help. I had to make a stand for Jesus in my life and say that I couldn’t help them financially anymore. I had to separate myself from my earthly parents and follow what my Heavenly Father says is right and true. 2 Corinthians 12:14 “… After all, children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children”.
